'Hairy.graphy'
Kokuyo Product Design Competition (Japan) - World Top 28

Hairy.graphy is a calligraphy brush with bristles covering all along the handle. You can hold the rawness and texture of the material that you're actually writing with. The bristles on the handle provides better grip and absorbs sweats as well as being soft & comfortable. It also provides new ways to draw ink on paper.

A play in Material
With the theme of "Elements" in mind, Hairygraphy literally utilized the bristle material to the full extent!. Compared to the stiff handle, the bristles are soft & comfortable to hold. The bristles also carry sweats absorbing quality and better gripping. It can be dyed in to different fun colours just like human hair while also allow inventive new ways to apply ink on paper.

An Organic Oriental Design
Kokuyo's Product Design Competition is one of Japan's largest contest which invites entries from all over the world. The theme of 2006 was a Japanese Character which means "Elements" or "Origin". Hairy.graphy is a playful effort to bring the art of calligraphy to a new generation of audience.
