Unlish - setting free our
body and soul. The form is a re-assemble of the pieces of a parallelogram
prism. Flat, horizontal seats were achievable because of the accurate
calculation of the angles on each slice. |

Unleash Ourselves
"Unlish" – setting free our body and soul. “Unlish” is a rigid
single-piece furniture. It no longer folds back into the “lished” form. The
concept of 'unleashing ourselves (in the shopping complex)' was carried
throughout the design process to the final form. It step design caters for
children, adults and shopping bags while not allowing the homeless to sleep on
it.
2nd Place Winner Design
In 2006, Unlish was the 2nd place winner in the Chair Design Competition
organized by Melbourne Central Shopping Complex and RAIA (The Royal Australian
Institute of Architects). The competition required designers to produce a
bench/ chair design which will be placed at one of the entrances of Melbourne
Central Shopping Complex. The design must be able to be produced within a
$5000 budget.
