Next Gen PC Design Competition is an annual contest commenced in 2005 and organized by Microsoft & iDSA (The Industrial Designers Society of America). It challenges designers to rethink the Windows-based PC experience today and the role it plays in people's lives. AARIVE gave it their best shot and send it the most ambitious idea - a design which targets 1.3 billion population. iDIO - an advanced version of my winning iDIO concept (from the Sony Concpt Design Contest 2005) that can be easily implemented into today's available technology. It is will give birth to a brand new entertainment industry - giving consumers brand new experiences and giving designers brand new opportunities.


DYVI - a concept that will revolutionize the Movie industry - reduce piracy, increase movie sales, boost new talents, provide a brand new movie experience and many more. PLAY - a concept that will revolutionize the Game industry - providing brand new experiences to consumers and opportunities for game designers. The Future of Fun - Three Entertainment Revolutions
Game Yarouze is a Game Design Contest held by Sony Computer Entertainment. It was held in Japan, but I decided to give it a go anyway and see how far my designs can go - then I was invited to go to Sony in Japan to present these ideas to Sony Designers. RAIA/ Melbourne Central Chair Design Competition (AUS)
 
'Unlish' - Second Place Winner

 

 

 Unlish - setting free our body and soul. The form is a re-assemble of the pieces of a parallelogram prism. Flat, horizontal seats were achievable because of the accurate calculation of the angles on each slice.

 

A Free Form  Design
This Chair Design Competition was organized by Melbourne Central Shopping Complex and RAIA (The Royal Australian Institute of Architects). The concept of 'unleashing ourselves (in the shopping complex)' was carried throughout the design process to the final form. (Lead Designer : John@AARIVE)







 

 


Kokuyo Product Design Competition (JAPAN)
 
'Hairy.graphy' - World Top 28

 

 

Hairy.graphy is a calligraphy brush with bristles covering all along the handle. You can hold the rawness and texture of the material that you're actually writing with. The bristles on the handle provides better grip and absorbs sweats as well as being soft & comfortable. It also provides new ways to draw ink on paper.

 

An Organic Oriental Design
Kokuyo's Product Design Competition is one of Japan's largest contest which invites entries from all over the world. The theme of 2006 was a Japanese Character which means "Elements" or "Origin". Hairy.graphy is a playful effort to bring the art of calligraphy to a new generation of audience. (Lead Designer : John@AARIVE)

Sony Concept Design Contest (HK)
 
'iDIO' - First Place Winner

 

 

 iDIO (Interactive Audio) gives birth to Audio Games -  it is not Mp3, it is not Video games.  Audio Games are games that you only play with your hearing. You interact with what you hear with buttons on the device. Imagine games like remixing your music on the go or beeping out swear words during a phone conversations. iDIO is a Walkman Revolution.

 

The Birth of a Brand New Entertainment Industry
Sony Concept Design Contest invites all designer to dream up a new Sony design. Judged by Sony's internal design team, iDIO was the winner of this contest for its big ambition to give birth to a new generation of entertainment called Audio Games. It gives something fresh to both the existing music and games market. QLD Transport Road Safety Media Competition (AUS)
 
'Mr Roadkill's Attack' - First Place Winner

 

 

Mr Road Kill's Attack is a 5 minute animation promoting Road Safety targeted to teenagers in Queensland. This animation features familiar characters from the awards winning iSMOG web site.


 

Catchy Animation as Media Design
For the QLD Transport Road Safety Media Competition, I decided to create an animation with a captivating storyline and colorful characters to address the my teenage audiences. I've won a set of SONY home entertainment systems. (Lead Designer : John@AARIVE)

QLD Transport Web Design Contest (AUS)
 
'iSMOG' - First Place Winner

 

 

iSMOG is a web site which promotes the use of environmentally friendly methods of travel to reduce smog. iSMOG's was probably the first web sites in that period (2001) to have featured 3 unique modes of browsing (Fun Mode, Cool Mode, & Quick Mode) to make education a much more fulfilling experience.

 

The Most Colorful & User Friendly Website
QLD Transport's Web site competition invited young talents to produce webs sites and promote environmentally friendly methods of travel to their peers. iSMOG won because it was the most colorful, innovative, informative and user-friendly entry. It also introduced a cartoon character, Lollidy the LollypopLady, as a hostess of the website. The achievement of this web site also caught the attention of Brisbane City's Lord Mayor, thus, received special congratulations from him. (Lead Designer : John@AARIVE)
